Description
We live in this Sulphur Crested Cockatoo’s yard in Longford in Gippsland, Victoria. I keep feeding birds to a minimum so they do not get used to being fed all the time… but they love sunflower and other wild bird seeds. Every now and then they come and ask for some seeds. I can get really close to them so it is relatively easy to get a good close up shot. They are raising a chick at the moment (same size as the parents) who will, in due time, leave the yard (I believe it is a male chick) to find it’s own territory. Sulphur Crested Cockatoos are very vocal and can be quite destructive. But they are very funny, intelligent and have the most amazing yellow feathers on their crest. They can live up to 20-40 years in the wild (up to 70 year in captivity).
